About KingFolk

This website was created August 2015 for the King Family Association, descendants of Nahum and Sarepta King of Kings Valley, Benton County, Oregon. A King reunion is held every year in Oregon, usually in June, and a newsletter, King Folk, is published once a year.

Annual dues are $10. These funds are used for various family projects, reunion costs, and publication costs. Welcome Pam Peck, our new treasurer. Please make checks out to "Pam Peck-King Folk" and mail to: Pam Peck, 1524 NW Kings Blvd, Corvallis, OR 97330.

How I became interested in Genealogy.

In grade school, I learned that I was descended from Oregon Trail pioneers. Of course, I had to brag about it. My best friend and I discussed this, and I told her the family name was King. The next day she comes to school and she tells me that her family name that immigrated to Oregon was King, also! What are the chances, that the only 2 girls in a second-grade class, a hundred miles from Kings Valley, would turn out to be fifth cousins? I am descended from Isaac, she is descended from Lucretia. From that moment on I was hooked. Grandma Max gifted me with a notebook containing what she had collected over the years. She also gave me my own copy of the Terrible Trail: The Meek Cutoff, 1845. Signed by the authors Keith Clark and Lowell Tiller. I was a very early adopter of Ancestry.com, my account shows I’ve been a member since 2003, but I’ve used some sort of software since at least 2000. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll do my best to answer! For my family tree visit
